Travelling off the beaten track is a passion of mine, and it was on the final day of a thousand-mile overland trek from Adelaide to Alice Springs in my twenties, that I experienced Mother Nature at her most beautiful.
Dusty and tired, we stopped at Trephina Gorge, where the Trephina River winds its way through the East MacDonnell Ranges. I decided to have a swim and ended up lying back in the slow-running water. Looking down I noticed that my black swimming costume was shimmering, only to realise that it was fine alluvial gold that was suspended in the water, gently settling on me. I was swimming in gold!
Having stayed with me as a special memory, when I came to launch the company it seemed the perfect name. Not only does it still give me joy remembering that day in the middle of the Australian Outback, but The Trephina Luxury Collective is about helping all its clients ‘find their gold’.
